Look Into My Eyes is a cinematic exploration of a group of New York City psychics that captures human beings trying their best to connect with, witness, and heal one another. Beginning with a plunge directly into the most private and raw of psychic sessions, a diverse group of clients ask questions they can’t ask anywhere else – and the psychics themselves gradually become the film’s main characters as their own motivations and experiences of loneliness and loss are revealed. An unconventional and meticulously constructed film built around gradually deepening the audience’s connection to what’s on screen, Look Into My Eyes is the third film in acclaimed director Lana Wilson’s trilogy of films about complicated healers (following After Tiller and The Departure), and her most personal work to date in that it ultimately shows how the relationship between director and subject mirrors that between psychic and client, reflecting our deeply human need to be witnessed by strangers in order to better see ourselves.
