2021 Broadcast Film and Series Submissions

Submissions for the 2021 Cinema Eye Honors for Broadcast Nonfiction (Film, Series, Editing and Cinematography) are open from April 28, 2020 - May 14, 2020.

Submissions for Broadcast Film are $250
Submissions for Broadcast Series are $400
Please note the following rules for eligibility before submitting:

Broadcast Series
1. The Broadcast Series Award is for series with 3 or more parts/episodes with each part/episode credited to the same director(s).
2. Series can be a one-off series or a single season of an ongoing series, and must have a single, contained narrative that spans multiple episodes [example: The Jinx]. Continuing or thematic series or programs [example: Top Chef, Parts Unknown, Independent Lens] are not eligible for this award.
3. The first part/episode of the Series must have been broadcast/streamed between June 1, 2019 and October 31, 2020.
4. Individual parts/episodes may be of any length, but the complete Series must have a TRT of 60 minutes or more. Named nominees are Director and Network.

Broadcast Film
1. The Broadcast Film Award is for films presented in 1 or 2 parts that have a TRT of 30 minutes or more.
2. Films can be a single episode/film of a thematic series when a series utilizes multiple directors over multiple episodes or does not have a single, contained narrative.
3. Films may play no more than 2 of the following film festivals prior to its broadcast/streaming premiere: AFI DOCS, Berlin, Camden, Cannes, CPH:DOX. DOC NYC, Dokufest Kosovo, Full Frame, Hot Docs, IDFA, Los Angeles, New Directors/New Films, New York, Rotterdam, San Francisco, Sheffield, Sundance, SXSW, Telluride, Toronto, Tribeca, True/False, Venice (for films playing more than 2, please submit to our regular Nonfiction Feature awards in June).
4. Films may have no more than $25,000 in theatrical box office (for films with more than $25,000 in theatrical box office, please submit to our regular Nonfiction Feature awards in June).
5. Films must be broadcast/streamed between June 1, 2019 and October 31, 2020 and no later than 12 months after its first public screening.
6. Films may not have been previously nominated for a Cinema Eye Honor.
7. Named nominees are Director and Network.
