Submission Deadlines and Fees
June 11 - June 29, 2018 - EARLY SUBMISSIONS - $125
June 30 - July 27, 2018 - REGULAR SUBMISSIONS - $175
July 28 - August 31, 2018 - LATE SUBMISSIONS - $225
Films may only submit once. For example, if you submitted in 2017 because you were eligible via festival screenings, you cannot submit again this year even if you are eligible via theatrical release. Films that had a public screening prior to September 1, 2016 are not eligible, even if they had not previously submitted and meet the other eligibility requirements.

To qualify for the 2019 Cinema Eye Honors you must meet
at least two
of the following four criteria.
A) Screened at one of the following International Film Festivals:
New Directors/New Films
B) Screened at one of the following International Film Festivals:
Docs Against Gravity
It's All True
New Directors/New Films
Rooftop Films Summer Series
Visions De Reel
C) Did your film have an Oscar Qualifying Run in Los Angeles and New York City prior to the end of 2018?
D) Can you report at least $25,000 in North American theatrical box office receipts?

Examples of Eligible Films:
A film that has screened at SXSW and Full Frame is eligible.
A film that has screened at San Francisco and Traverse City is eligible.
A film that is set to screen at the New York Film Festival and has an Oscar-qualifying NY/LA opening confirmed prior to the end of 2018 is eligible.
A film that has reported more than $25,000 in North American theatrical box office, including Oscar-qualifying openings in NY and LA is eligible.
Directors are invited to vote during our nominations process to nominate this year's Outstanding Feature award and they also vote for our Distinctive Honors for Influential Films and Unforgettable Subjects. It's important for us to have direct emails for film directors in order to solicit their votes. For multiple directors, please separate emails with a comma.)
Was there another director on this film?
For our purposes, please only list the person(s) primarily responsible for overseeing and coordinating development, principal photography and post-production (maximum of three producers). Persons must have received a Producer or Produced by credit in order to be eligible for this award. Executive Producers are not eligible.
Does your film have an original music score?
For our purposes, an original music score means that at least 51% of the music cues were written specifically for your film.
Graphic Design & Animation
Does your film have graphic design or animation?
For our purposes, eligibility in this category requires that there is at least 1 minute of graphic design, broadcast design or animation, not including title sequences.
Graphic Designers or Animators
Name up to two people who were most responsible for your graphic design and/or animation.
Is this film a Debut?
For our purposes, a debut film means that no one credited as director has previously made a film (fiction or nonfiction) longer than 50 minutes in length
If your film is nominated for a Cinema Eye Honor, do you consent to have your film made available, via password protected links specifically given by Cinema Eye?
Our voters are comprised of approximately 600 members of the international documentary community. Voters must request login information in order to receive links.
If your film is selected for our Spotlight Honor (recognizing those outstanding films that deserve more attention), do you consent to allow your film to be screened as part of our Spotlight Screening Series (films in the series may be paid a stipend)
And finally, please supply a password-protected online link for our Nominations Committee. Links and passwords must be active from the time you submit your film until the end of October 2017.
